About Hair Chalking Products

Nowadays, professional hair chalks are easily available in the market which are mostly used by the hair experts in various salons. However, these are quite expensive and you can find some cheaper yet equally effective alternatives. The most common products used for hair chalking are art chalks or soft chalk pastels that are available in packs of multiple colors and are way too cheaper. Hair chalks are also available in liquid and compact forms. Both are pretty good for coloring the strands but the liquid one might need oiling and conditioning to be removed while the compact one can be washed out effortlessly.

  1. Choosing the right hue for the type of your hair is the first and foremost task you need to accomplish. If you are a blonde or a brunette, you can experiment a lot with colors. However, if you are a woman with intense black hair, you need to opt for bright vibrant shades of blue, teal, pink, yellow, etc. instead of darker shades like red, green, purple, etc.
  2. Take some water in a cup or pot and dip the ends of the hair chalks you are going to use in it. As the chalks will be soaked, the pigments will be released. Pouring a little water over the chalks might hasten the process.
  3. If you are blessed with amazing black hair, this is the time you need to get prepared by washing your hair with a good clarifying shampoo (to eliminate all the greasy stuff) and drying it partially with a soft towel. If your scalp is absolutely clean, you can just dampen your hair slightly. However, blond or brunette beauties should skip this step and start with dry hair only.
  4. Now, put on an old tee and a pair of gloves as the task of chalking is pretty messy. Grab small sections of hair either randomly (for natural color highlights all over your hair) or strategically (for multi-colored hair tips or ombre hair) and rub the soaked hair chalk down the length gradually.
  5. Once the strands are saturated enough with the chosen colors and you are satisfied with the look, let them air-dry completely.
  6. Finally, seal the pigments in your locks with the help of a hair straightening iron and some hair spray.

Being a temporary color, it will last for a couple of days and will come out easily by washing with water.
