1. Sugaring

Sugaring is the most common as well as the most effective natural hair removal technique that is less painful, works on even the shortest underarm hair (1/16th of an inch), and prevents ingrown hair.

Mix a cup of cane sugar, (1/4) cup of water, and (1/4) cup of lemon juice over low heat in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Bring it to a boil, simmer it, and let it process on low heat for 20 minutes. Once it turns nice red-brown in color, turn off the heat and cool it down. Your sugaring paste is ready. Just store it in an airtight container.

To use it, prepare your skin by cleaning it with a wet cloth and dusting baby powder on it. Scoop out some of this gooey mixture, roll it into a ball, and apply it to your underarm in the opposite direction of your hair growth. Firmly press it on your skin. Now, raise your arm to keep it taut and pull the sticky mixture with your fingers in the same direction as your hair growth. Keep working on small sections until the hair from the entire region is removed. Finally, rinse the area with soap and water.

2. Lemon And Sugar Pack

Mix 1 tablespoon of sugar with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and make a smooth paste. Apply it to your underarms and spread it evenly in the direction of your hair growth. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then, wipe with a wet washcloth. Do this twice a week and to remove all your underarm hair slowly over time. It also helps lighten the underarm skin significantly.

Apply it to your underarms evenly, allow it to dry and then, peel it off from the skin. Repeating this every week will not only help you remove your underarm hair but also reduce its growth.

4. Milk And Turmeric Pack

Mix a pinch of turmeric powder with 2 teaspoons of raw milk and apply it on your underarm hair. Let it dry completely and then, wipe it off with a wet washcloth. However, it is more of a hair retarder than a hair remover.

Other Ways To Remove Underarm Hair

If you are not a DIY person but want to get rid of that unwanted hair from your armpits, there are many other ways to serve your purpose. Here we go:

1. Plucking With A Tweezer

If you have a good pair of tweezers and enough time in hand, you can give this method a try. Cleanse your underarms thoroughly with lukewarm water and exfoliate them gently. Start plucking individual hair from the base by tweezing in the direction of your hair growth. Apply an aftershave cream or lotion to soothe the skin.

Tweezing is a painful and highly time-consuming process, but hair takes longer to grow back in it and you can do it every month or every other month. Also, make sure that you use sharp and sterilized tweezers only.

2. Shaving With A Razor

This is a fast, efficient, and one of the cheapest ways to get rid of underarm hair. You need to cleanse and exfoliate your armpits thoroughly with lukewarm water prior to shaving them with a sharp razor (use a shaving cream if needed). Once done, rinse them with cold water and apply some pure coconut oil or fresh cucumber juice.

For a sensitive skin, shaving against the direction of the hair growth is not advisable. Though it is a painless procedure, it can lead to ingrown hair as well as dark underarms. Also, hair grows back in a couple of days and you must shave every 2-3 days to keep the skin smooth.

3. Applying Hair Removal Cream

Using a hair removal (depilatory) cream is a fast and painless procedure in which you need to cleanse your underarms thoroughly and use your preferred hair removal cream as directed. Do not forget to conduct a patch test before you start.

Although it makes the skin silky smooth, you may need to repeat the process every 5-6 days as the hair grows back faster. It can also cause ingrown hair and darken the armpits over time.

4. Using Hot Wax/Wax Strip

Waxing needs no introduction. You can apply heated wax or make use of wax strips for this purpose. Make sure that you apply the wax in the direction of your hair growth and pull quickly against it. Use baby oil to remove the wax residue completely and apply aloe vera gel right after the procedure to soothe the skin.

It is an extremely painful procedure that should be avoided if the skin is ultra-sensitive. But it makes the skin silky smooth and you can wait 4-6 weeks before your next session as the hair does not grow fast.

5. Using An Epilator

If you want to avoid a messy hair removal technique, invest in a branded epilator. Cleanse and exfoliate your armpits nicely and use the charged device as directed (each epilator comes with its own instruction set). Soothe the skin with some fresh aloe vera gel or a lightweight lotion.

This is another fast, gentle, and efficient process with less or no pain involved. Though it may cause ingrown hair, you can wait 4-6 weeks before the next session as the hair grows back slowly.
