In an exclusive interview, BG speaks to Cecilia Wong to understand common problems associated with our skin, treatments, and alternate solutions.
BG – How often should you see your skincare specialist/dermatologist?
Cecilia Wong – Depending on where you live, I recommend getting a facial every 3-4 weeks. Pollution is an issue in most areas. Dirt, germs, and bacteria accumulate on our skin, and it can cause premature aging.
BG -How can I slow down the signs of aging? What can I do to make myself look better?
Cecilia Wong – It varies with everyone, but there are many ways to slow down the signs of aging. Get regular facial treatments such as microcurrent, radiofrequency, LED light therapy. These treatments target aging and help tone and tighten your skin. Another great way is to start using products that contain Vitamin A, C, and E and antioxidants. These ingredients help minimize fine lines and wrinkles and build a strong skin barrier as a defense mechanism against pollution and external factors. Sunscreen is also a must for slowing down the aging process. Lastly, a healthy balanced diet combined with the above will ensure beautiful skin.

BG – How does my diet affect my skin? Is there anything I can incorporate into my diet to help my skin?
Cecilia Wong – Diet affects the skin to a great extent. Food contains vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. This is not fuel for the body but for beautiful skin. A balanced diet with Vitamins A, C, and E along with antioxidants can help you rejuvenate your skin. Omegas are crucial to the anti-aging process as they provide hydration to both the body and skin. Berries, yellow and orange color fruit and vegetables, and leafy greens work wonders for the skin.
BG – How effective are home remedies when it comes to treating skin? What precautions should we take to avoid any reaction?
Cecilia Wong – Some home remedies can be effective when used frequently and correctly. Home remedies such as DIY masks are an excellent way to maintain the skin between visits to the spa. Most importantly, follow your expert’s instructions and don’t try to overdo it.
BG – Can you tell me about the latest alternative treatments and procedures which are non-invasive?
Cecilia Wong – One of my favorite treatments is microcurrent. This is an alternative to botox. It’s non-invasive, has no downtime, and is quite effective. You see results immediately. A lot of my clients opt for this treatment instead of getting botox or fillers. This procedure tones and tightens facial muscles, at the same time lifting the skin. This also helps reduce puffiness and drains out excess toxins. It’s a miraculous treatment.
BG – How Cecilia Wong Skincare is addressing skin health with the latest technological advancements like lymphatic drainage facials, Microcurrent, Radiofrequency?
Cecilia Wong – I combine these techniques with Traditional Chinese medicine. For example, for lymphatic drainage facials, I apply meridian points acupressure to stimulate the lymphatic system. Some points will help you detox, and some help lift and brighten the skin. After that process, I’ll use microcurrent to stimulate the face muscles for further tightening, LED light therapy to kill bacteria, minimize sun damage, and Oxygen to hydrate and feed skin cells nutrients. I would also recommend clients foods to incorporate into their diet and which foods to avoid.
