Facial aesthetics have evolved significantly over the years, blending surgical precision with innovative non-surgical treatments. At the forefront of this transformation are Dr. David Lieberman and Dr. Sachin Parikh, both double board-certified facial plastic surgeons and co-founders of L&P Aesthetics. Through their practice and platform, L&P Aesthetics, they provide expert insights, cutting-edge procedures, and personalized care to help patients achieve natural and refined results. We are delighted to have Dr. Lieberman and Dr. Parikh answer some of our readers’ questions in this episode.
BG – What inspired you to start L&P Aesthetics, and what was the vision behind it?
L&P Aesthetics – We founded L&P Aesthetics in 2012 with the goal of creating the premier aesthetics center dedicated exclusively for the face. We are both double board-certified and fellowship trained facial plastic surgeons and wanted to build a center based on our shared values of humility and excellence.
In aesthetic surgery, it is extremely uncommon for surgeons to ever work together, much less operate together, but we formed a medical partnership and built our practice around it. It is the fundamental reason why For The Face patients receive superior results.
When a patient comes to us for a facelift or rhinoplasty, they not only receive expert care from one board-certified, aesthetically skilled surgeon, but two. We constantly challenge each other to do our very best work and hold each other accountable for every stitch. They constantly evaluate and discuss, bounce different strategies off each other, and work together to find the solution that is perfect for a particular patient’s surgery.

BG – What sets your clinic apart from others specializing in facial plastic surgery?
L&P Aesthetics – We have been performing the gold standard in facial rejuvenation, the deep plane face and neck lift, for over 10 years and have performed over 2K L&P Signature Facelifts. We’ve pioneered a personalized approach to the technique which involves tailoring the lift to the individual’s anatomy and presented these techniques at facial plastic surgery conferences worldwide.
In aesthetic surgery, collaboration is rare—but at L&P Aesthetics, two expert surgeons work together to deliver superior, natural results.
BG – What are the most common procedures people seek today, and how have trends changed over the years?
L&P Aesthetics – Our goal is always to keep results fresh and natural, never overdone. As technologies have advanced over the years, we have more tools in our toolkit. Last year our practice brought on the UltraClear laser, which is a big game changer for nonsurgical skin resurfacing. Not only is the UltraClear laser very effective with little downtime, but it is a cold fiber laser and safe for people of all skin types, even people with skin types 5 and 6.
BG – How do you balance patient expectations with realistic outcomes?
L&P Aesthetics – A facelift, or any facial aesthetic intervention, is a big decision. Our face is our identity and the embodiment of who we are to everyone. It is common for people to feel vulnerable when making this decision. We embrace the fact that it is a scary decision, but at the same time, we want our patients to know we are there to help them navigate the entire process.
Ultimately, we want our patients to be honest with us about the reasons why they’re about to go on this journey. Setting clear expectations and making sure their goals are realistic is critical to a successful outcome and a healthy physician-patient relationship.
BG – The aesthetics industry is seeing a rise in non-surgical treatments—how do you see this affecting facial plastic surgery?
L&P Aesthetics – No matter where you are in life, it is really important to remember that you are on a lifelong aesthetic journey. All of these in-office treatments add up over time, and that can be a positive or a negative. If you are making smart choices at every step, not over-correcting or creating unnecessary tissue damage along the way, strategic in-office treatments can have a dramatic and natural impact over time.

BG – What is your approach to ensuring patient safety and satisfaction?
L&P Aesthetics – “Building trust with patients is a true honor. I’m at a point in my career where I really enjoy performing at a high level in the world of facial aesthetics. At the same time, I love challenging myself to improve every day. By pushing myself every day, I am constantly working to deliver outcomes that bring joy and confidence into my patients’ lives. I am also committed to using my skill set to give back locally and internationally through amazing organizations like HUGS (helpusgivesmiles). I feel very grateful to do what I do.
BG – How do you guide patients who may have unrealistic expectations about their results?
L&P Aesthetics – There is some value in making sure that not every component of aging is erased. There’s a threshold that you can cross, and if that threshold is crossed, the mind starts to think that the face is unnatural and we don’t want that. We want our patients to look younger, yes, but the best version of themselves at their current age.
That said, if we believe a person has unrealistic expectations for a particular intervention, we will refer them to someone we believe could help them either get in a better mindset or achieve a result that we do not offer.
BG – What advice would you give to someone considering facial plastic surgery for the first time?
L&P Aesthetics – We advise patients to find an educated and skilled provider or practice that has your best interest in mind and is willing to develop a long-term relationship with you. Aging is a continuous process and aesthetic treatment plans should be looked at the same.
Choosing the right provider isn’t just about one procedure; it’s about a long-term partnership in aesthetic care.
BG – Are there any innovative techniques or treatments your clinic specializes in?
L&P Aesthetics – We specialize in the deep plane facelift, which really allows us to address the core issues that are at the cause of facial aging. These causes can be broken down into several components. First, we think about gravitational changes or descent of tissue south, which leads to check deflation, increased prominence of jowls, loss of definition along the jawline, and platysmal laxity, etc.
Second, when we age, there is loss of volume in different fat pads, loss of muscle due to atrophy, and loss of volume in the bony structures of the face. You can’t restore bony volume, and it’s hard to restore muscle volume, but you can take soft tissue volume and put it back to its original position. In a deep plane facelift, we’re taking tissue that has descended and moving it back to where it used to be. In a sense, we are just restoring a person’s former look.
When you release and lift the deeper layers of the face, the SMAS layer, you are releasing and lifting tissue while not putting any tension on the skin. Working on these deeper layers leads to less scarring and allows for a longer-lasting result.
