A lot of us worry about our eyesight and the possibility of needed spectacles at some point or another. Weak eyesight makes it difficult for us to perform some day to day tasks easily. We tell you how you can naturally improve your eyesight at home, without having to do yoga or exercises.
1. Massage your head
A good head massage helps in circulation of blood to the brain and thereby helps in improving your eyesight. It works best when it is administered to you so that you can relax. Just as every other part of the body, our eyes also need relaxation during the day. You sit down when your legs feel tired, or massage your neck when it is strained. Same way, the eyes also need relaxation during the day. Simply sit down and place your palms on the eyes for a few minutes. This relaxes the eyes and also gives them some warmth. This method, known as palming was devised by eye physician William Bates. It is one of the most popular alternative therapies to improve eyesight.
This is another alternative therapy that is a part of the Bates method of improving eyesight. It just says that the eyes should catch some sunlight every day. This does not mean staring into the sun, as it can be damaging to the eyes. All that it means is that get out in the sun and get some vitamin D for the eyes.

Make sure that you drink lots of water during the day to keep the eyes well hydrated. Also, splash your eyes with pure distilled water from time to time, rather than tap water.
5. Get some shut eye
Well yes, you do need a good night’s sleep. Along with it, you also need to ensure that you do not stare at the computer for too long, wear anti-glare spectacles in case you spend long hours in front of the computer, take frequent breaks between any activity that needs intense eye focus.
6. It is all in the food
All said and done, you need to eat healthy food in case you want healthy eyesight. Include lots of vitamin A rich food in your diet. DHA which is a type of omega 3 fatty acid is also needed for good eyesight. Antioxidants such as beta-carotene and lutein help in protecting the macula of the eye which is needed for good eyesight. So what can you include in your diet to get all this? Here is a list:
- Garlic – rich in antioxidants and improves blood flow
- Salmon – rich in vitamin A and D
- Leafy vegetables- rich in vitamin A, B complex and calcium
- Dark chocolates- accounts for your flavonoid requirement which protect blood vessels
- Carrots – rich in beta-carotene and is great for the eyes
- Soy- rich in fatty acids and will give you the DHA you need.
So go ahead and eat these healthy foods, drink lots of water and get good sleep for better vision.
