Make your own Green tea face masks


Green tea is a fabulous beverage to maintain good health. It is rich in anti-oxidants, boosts your immune system, helps you burn away excess fat and gives you glowing skin. But did you know that applying green tea on the face by way of a mask also works wonders on your skin.Green tea has a soothing effect on the skin using which it reduces inflammation caused by acne. It helps remove excess oil from the skin and makes your skin glow from within. Let us see how you can make your own green tea face masks at home to get fabulous skin.

How to use Green Tea in Face Masks?

To make the green tea face masks, you can either use the green tea leaves after cutting open a tea bag, or make a cup of green tea and pour it into the mask, or if you can find some “Matcha”, which is  a dark green powder that is nothing but stone ground green tea powder, then you can use that too.


Green Tea Face Mask for Dry/ Wrinkly Skin

If you suffer from dry or wrinkly skin then what you need is a nice mashed avocado in which you can add the goodness of green tea and get super soft toned skin.

Mix together 1/2 a mashed avocado with the contents of a used tea bag. Make a fine paste with it, say in a blender and apply it all over your face. Leave it for half an hour. Wipe it off with a washcloth. The avocado will leave your skin supple while the green tea will prevent the occurrence of wrinkles.

The anti-inflammatory properties of green tea help soothe the redness and irritation caused by acne. Green tea is also anti-bacterial and it will help control any bacterial attack on the skin in your acne prone areas. Mix it with some oatmeal and you have a pack that will gently exfoliate the skin and also keep it fresh.

In this pack, you use cooked oats. So if you are cooking oatmeal for breakfast, keep 2 tsps aside for this pack. Take 2 tsps of cooked oats and add to it the contents of your used green tea bag. Add a touch of honey and a dash of lemon to the same. Mix well and apply on the skin. Leave for half an hour. Wipe it off with a washcloth. The honey and lemon will help lighten the skin and also control the oiliness of the skin. This is a wonderful way of utilizing things left over from your breakfast of green tea and oats porridge.

Green tea helps in healing sunburn and soothing the sun damaged skin. The easiest way to do this is to freeze some green tea in your ice tray and apply it on the skin soon as you return from your trip out in the sun.

You can also make a soothing face pack with green tea mixed with fuller’s earth or multani mitti. Apply this face pack on the face after washing it. The cooling pack will help soothe sunburn and also control all the inflammation in the skin.

Other ways of using green tea

  • You can splash your face with some chilled green tea and wash it off after it dries up for some instant freshness in the face.
  • Placing chilled used green tea bags on the eyes reduces puffiness of the eyes. It also helps cleanse and constrict the pores on the skin.
