Ingredients for the DIY Moisturizing Citrus Hand Cream
Most of the supplies needed for the hand cream are easily available. Cocoa butter, shea butter and beeswax can be found at your local craft store or at the chemist. You can buy them in bulk and make use of them in many DIY preparations like lip balms and body butters.
- 1 Cup Water
- 1/2 cup almond oil
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 15 drops of citrus essential oil – orange, lemon or bergamont
- 1 tsp shea or cocoa butter
- 1 tsp beeswax pellets
Method to make the Moisturizing Citrus Hand Cream
In a microwave safe bowl, heat together the beeswax pellets, shea or cocoa butter and the almond oil and coconut oil on medium heat for about 3-4 minutes or until the solids melt.
Now, to the same bowl, add in the water and the essential oil. Using a hand blender, blend all the ingredients well until they turn fluffy and homogeneous.
Scoop out the cream from the bowl and transfer into individual jars.
How to use the Citrus Hand Cream
Your hand loses moisture and oils every time you wash them. So during the day, when you have wrapped up most of your work and find an hour or two when you perhaps won’t wash your hands, at that time, smooth some of the cream onto your hands. Scoop it out of the jar and apply all over the inner and outer palms. Massage your knuckles and tug at each finger. Rub the nails and the cuticles with the cream. Rub both the palms together, make a fist and release a couple of times and spread the excess cream on the elbows or the arms.
Do this again in the night before you sleep, because the eight hours during which you sleep are about the only time when your hands get complete rest.
Benefits of the Citrus Hand Cream
The hand cream makes the skin soft and smooth. Regular use of the cream keeps the hands free from dryness and dullness. The cream also makes the nails strong and the keeps away lines from your hands. Couple the usage of the hand cream with regular scrubbing and you are well on your way to having beautiful hands that no one can take their eyes off from.
