10 Best pre and aftercare tips for nose piercing
Before you get your nose pierced:
1. Evaluate whether you want it and can maintain it
Getting your nose pierced is done in a matter of a few minutes. But you will have the piercing for all your life. So go in for the piercing only after you are sure that you want it and that you can maintain a nose accessory on your nose all along and also clean and maintain the piercing.
2. Find a reputable person to do the job
Don’t just run to your nearest salon, but find a trained professional who will do a good job out of the nose piercing. That way, you can be confident that the piercing will turn out well.
3. Drink lots of water
Drink lots of water a day before and on the day of the piercing in order to flush out all toxins from the body.
4. Take a painkiller
If the piercing is not being performed under anesthesia, then it is advisable to take a pain killer since you don’t want to writhe in pain and tear your skin while it is being pierced.
5. Ensure Cleanliness and safety
Ensure that the piercing artist is maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. Check that the gun and needle used for piercing is sterilized in case it is not disposable. Check if the artist is using gloves while piercing. Ensure nickel free studs are used during the piercing to avoid any reaction from the body.
Ok, so now you withstood the pain and got your nose pierced. What will help you flaunt your nose accessory, is currently a wound that will take more than a week to heal. How do you take care of it?
Before you touch the wound or clean it, make sure that you clean your own hands well with an anti-bacterial hand wash.
2. DO NOT play with your piercing
Stop all urges to touch your nose piercing or dislodge it to ease an irritation. Let it be as is for at least a week or until the wound has dried. Your fingers can cause contamination or the jewelry can cause further tearing of the wound. So any tampering is best avoided.
3. Clean the wound daily
With a cotton bud and an anti-bacterial liquid, clean the wound everyday. Use a cotton bud and some warm water to clean the inside of the nose too, every day.
Use supplements like Zinc and Vitamin B which will help relieve the pain and also heal the wound faster.
5. Other remedies
If you have redness and swelling, you could try massaging the area around the wound with some lavender oil. You can also make a paste out of turmeric with some hot edible oil and apply the paste around the wound. The anti-microbial properties of turmeric will help you contain any infection and it will also dry out the wound soon.
Follow these after care tips until the wound has dried up. At this point, remove the stud or ring, clean the piercing again thoroughly and go ahead and change the accessory to suit your style.
